Is this the dawning of the libertarian age?
It would be nice to think so -- and Michael Kinsley suggests that those of us who believe in live-and-let-live have reason to be cheerful.
Oh boy, I hope he's right. Then I could spend less of my income on ammo and more on booze and porn. I'm a libertarian, after all.
And really, who doesn't like booze and porn? Who you'd want to hang out with, that is.

J.D., I suspect that there may be a few more Christian Libertarians such as myself who don't drink (as a matter of personal choice, not doctrinal duty) and don't have any use for porn, but see no point in trying to criminalize either booze or smut.
If, as I also hope, we're headed for a libertarian age, it may have as much to do with simple, exhausted disgust over the atrocities wrought in the name of several varieties of prohibition.
You have a terrific and very informative blog.
William,
You're right of course. I was being flippant and referring more to the usual stereotypes about libertarians than to my perception of what libertarians actually spend their time and money on. We're a diverse group, united primarily by our willingness to let each other live the lives of our choice.
